GOLDEN HOUR
The golden hour is a time of day in photography that appears just after sunrise or before sunset, when sunlight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. The sharp shadows seen at midday will not be seen during golden hour.
This photograph was taken at Puchong, near Puchong mosque. I shot in landscape and waited from 6.30 p.m until 7.20 p.m during sunset. The reflection of the sun can been seen in the lake. F/13, ISO-400 and shutter speed 1/125sec.
This sunrise photo was taken at Kedah. The paddy fields as the foreground and middle ground and also there's a hill at the backgorund. This was shot at 8 a.m until 8.40 a.m.. F/13, ISO-100 and shutter speed 1/320sec.
ZONE SYSTEM
The Zone System gives photographers a logical way to evaluate the tone range in a composition. It also directs the photographer in adjusting the camera's exposure settings in order to capture an image exactly as the photographer wants it. The Zone System splits a scene into ten tonal scales, numbered 0 to 10. 0 is the beginning of pure black, and 10 is the beginning of pure white.
BLACK AND WHITE
This was taken at Kuala Lumpur Tower with the city views at the bottom and PNB tower in front . This picture uses the zone system:
Zone II - Black but with the first hint of texture.
Zone III - Average very dark tones and low values that show visible texture.
Zone V - This is middle gray. Clear north sky, dark skin, average weathered wood.
Zone VIII - Lightest tone with texture snow
Zone IX - Slight tone without texture ;glaring snow
COLOURS
This picture was taken at Negeri Sembilan nearby my hometown. It is a guest house with a touch of traditional Negeri Sembilan old house. This picture uses the zone system:
Zone IV - Average dark foliage, dark stone, or landscape shadow
Zone V - Middle grey: clear north sky ,this is what our light metre is set to.
Zone VI - Skin tone is typical for a Caucasian.
Zone VIII - Textured lightest tone
Zone X - There is no detail in this pure white. This would be light sources or light source reflections.
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY (BLACK&WHITE)
Street photography is one of the most difficult, but also one of the most rewarding, types of photography. Documenting individuals in their ordinary surroundings is difficult — it takes patience, hard work, and sometimes even guts to approach and photograph complete strangers.
BLACK AND WHITE
This image was taken at the KLCC park during afternoon. Not many people during this time, so I take this shot at the bridge, seeing these three people just walking and talking. F/11, ISO-200 and shutter speed 1/200sec.
